Job Description

The Research and Records Technical Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration and day to day operations of systems related to Item Capture and Document Imaging and will independently provide staff support for balancing related activities, check adjustments and system issues including working with internal departments and vendors until resolved. Will also spearhead system upgrades and related staff training initiatives and participate in projects to support the following department activities: Image Enabled ATM processing, Remote Deposit Capture, Teller Capture, Remittance Processing, Document Imaging, Symitar automation and other initiatives.

  • Coordinates and participates in projects for testing and implementing new systems and updates to existing systems, including but not limited to Symitar, Bluepoint’s IP Hub, Wausau’s Optima and Image RPS, and EMC’s Captiva.
  • Troubleshoots, identifies and resolves system related malfunctions and software issues.
  • Provides technical training and documentation for staff on new and existing systems.
  • Assists with updating and testing department procedures.
  • Performs various system functions; for example - exports of inclearing check files for archival purposes and uploads of data to our internal archival system.
  • Audits and researches all processes for compliance to rules, regulations, and laws and informs department manager of necessary changes and required deadlines.
  • Researches, designs and recommends processes and systems to improve functions within the department and the credit union.
  • Provides first line support for ADP staff with various operational balancing activities and Federal Reserve adjustments.
  • Provides excellent customer service with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Provides a high level of interfacing with co-workers, internal customers, IT personnel, management and vendors for technical support.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • A minimum of 3 years related experience working with Image Enabled ATM processing, Remote Deposit Capture, Check 21 Teller Capture, Remittance Processing, Document Imaging, Symitar. Will consider a combination of experience and education in a related field.
  • A demonstrated aptitude and willingness to learn and support new systems using various applications.
  • The ability to independently perform all job duties of the Automated Document Processing (ADP) Specialist within 6 months of hire and continue to perform as a backup to ADP staff when needed.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel & the other Microsoft suite of office products
  • A demonstrated ability to quickly learn new applications/systems
  • A demonstrated ability to take the lead, analyze and interpret system issues
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, problem solving & communications skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team or independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Previous project management experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
