This position requires a strong level of engineering and design experience in Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking convergence and interoperability solutions for enterprises. The successful candidate must have the ability to perform logical audits of existing designs, including audits of routers, switches and end elements connected to LANs within technical facilities. Creation of new logical designs (Visio) depicting changes in network design in order to bring sites up to documented standards.  Work products includes Visio drawings, bill of materials, IP addressing and subnetting, VLAN assignments, implementation instructions and technical inputs to Method of Procedures (MOP) to allow Operations personnel to implement network changes.  Complex changes will require engineering to produce custom configuration scripts for Cisco or Juniper devices to be implemented by Operations.

Strong oral / written skills are required in order to effectively work in a collaborative manner on a large complex project.  Strong operational understanding of full lifecycle management of large projects including audit, MOP preparation, installation, integration, testing, network cut-overs are a plus.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as design engineer for large Enterprise network.
  • Audit, document, design, develop configuration scripts for Cisco and Juniper Routers and Switches. 
  • Develop Method and Procedures for Operation cut-overs of network devices.
  • Document Network topologies using Visio.

Require Skills and Experience

This position will possess and display a strong level of  technical and product knowledge in the following:

  • Strong design experience, 2-8 years, in TCP/IP networks.
  • Stong technical experience with Ethernet switching layer 2 protocols such as Spanning Tree, VLAN, 802.1q.
  • Strong technical experience of TCP/IP routing layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, ISIS.
  • Strong IP security experience in writing/administering access control list (ACL) or firewall policy.
  • Must have prior hand-on experience configuring Cisco and/or Juniper routers in a remote environment.
  • Must be able to work independently and handle multiple sites at one time in various stages of the project life cycle.
  • Knowledge of X.25 to IP (XOT) a benefit
  • CCNP and or CCDP certification a plus.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Must possess and display a strong level of engineering design and implementation experience that provides Internet Protocol (IP) networking convergence and interoperability solutions for enterprises.  Specifically:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or Electrical Engineering and/or any combination of experience and education which meet the job requirements.Demonstrated experience of TCP/IP networking implementation.
  • 2-8 years experience as design, implementation, or maintenance of enterprise grade data networks.
  • Certifications desired: CCNP, CCDP
  • Ability to provide network readiness technical assessments
  • Excellent written and oral communications
